When we came to a town that was interesting, we’d take a longer lunch time, and explore. When we’d see a pretty spot we’d stop and take a group picture. When we’d see a good beach, we would swim. The trip was run by what we opted to do, and that’s what made it perfect. Many camps treat you like a little kid, trapped in what the adults want you to do, but the SHP people make it possible for you to choose, but still stay safe and within reason!
I wouldn’t trade this summer for anything, it was the best of my life! If I were to sum up my SHP trip, I would have to say that I learned the most in these two weeks then anytime else in my life.

From mountain valleys to picturesque coastal islands.
Stowe is the starting point for your journey across New England. Here your group will kick off the
adventure in high spirits with a tour of Ben & Jerry's ice cream
factory (ok – you get to sample some, too!) before biking northerly
through beautiful green farming valleys and little old towns.
You'll even spend a night in French-speaking Montreal, where
you'll do some exciting sightseeing and sample pastries in the
Old City. The scenery changes again as you enter the deep valleys
of the White Mountain National Forest, with its towering
mountains and rushing wilderness streams tumbling over cascading
waterfalls. VERY refreshing for a quick swim – these streams
are chilly! You'll bike out of the National Forest into Conway, New
Hampshire, where you can browse the outlet stores and boutiques
before heading into Maine.
Sparkling lakes and refreshing
river pools give way to the smell of salt water in the air as you near
the ocean. Along the coast's more level paths, you may stop to
go beach-combing or visit a lighthouse or try a taste of fresh Maine lobster or blueberry fudge! This trip winds up near
Freeport, home of L.L. Bean, so you can check out the shopping at one of the greatest sporting goods stores ever!
